Kim & Justin’s Gift Registry

Dear Friends and Family,

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your incredible support in helping us prepare for our rainbow baby. Your love and generosity mean the world to us.

We have decided to add Dallas, a certified doula and professional birth photographer, to our birth team, to be with us during our birthing time. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our baby girl’s arrival with a contribution to our doula support and birth photography fund!

Love,

Kim and Justin

what is a doula?

A doula is a non-medical support person, who brings her expertise and experience to support families through the birth of their baby. Doulas provide physical, emotional, and educational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

A doula can…

  • help create a birth plan

  • provide resources and referrals for local services

  • be there for all the “Is this normal??” moments that pregnancy brings!

  • teach childbirth education classes

  • provide support while laboring at home

  • give guidance on when to go to the hospital

  • offer physical support during birth: massage, cool compresses, gentle touch, position changes

  • offer emotional support: encouragement, creating a calm environment, a shoulder to cry on and a hand to hold

  • offer educational support: help with decision making, navigating the medical system, interpreting medical talk

  • help dads understand what is going on and how they can help mom through labor

  • provide support and love through the tender postpartum stage

what is the role of a

birth photographer?

It may seem unusual, but just like a wedding photographer captures the details of that special day, a birth photographer bottles up all of the love and joy from your baby’s birth, so that you can relive it forever.

A birth photographer captures…

  • the last moments of life at home before baby

  • the love and partnership between mom and dad

  • the hard work and strength it takes to bring their child into the world

  • the hazy moments that are quickly forgotten in the swirl of hormones and emotions

  • the unique talents of the birth team and the ways that they provide support and love

  • the calm birth space where their baby will be born

  • the last few “bump” pictures

  • precious tears and laughter

  • the moment their baby emerges and takes their first breath

  • the look on mom and dad’s faces as they see their baby for the first time

  • the first cry, first kiss, first everything

  • baby’s sweet details: fingers, toes, hair, weights and measurements

  • the special connection of baby’s first feeding

  • first photos of the new family

  • family coming to meet the baby
