My Own Birth Stories | My Son

My sweet son. This precious second child of ours came into the world in a whirlwind labor of just four hours. After waiting until 41 weeks and 4 days to make his arrival, he was finally born in a birth pool in our living room, surrounded by my incredible birth team.

I’m still putting together the words from his birth. It was such a joyful, peaceful, and yet intensely challenging birth. I am grateful for the amazing images from my friend and fellow birth photographer Erin Heuser. They help me to recall and recapture every detail in a way that my hazy memories cannot. Being in front of the camera while I birthed gave me such a huge appreciation for the vulnerability that my clients trust me with, and the impact that these images will have on my family’s history forever validate my calling to provide this for other families.
