Just a few days after this precious boy was born at home, (see his incredible birth video here!) I came back to document their family for an intimate postpartum newborn session.

I couldn’t help but smile when I came into their home. Their dear friend (who just happens to be a student midwife herself) was folding laundry. Dad was feeding their toddler his lunch. Mom was taking a luxurious shower while baby peacefully slept. It was such a supportive, loving place to be. (Plan your postpartum support, friends! Having proper care, nutrition, and help makes all the difference in your recovery and mental state in those early weeks.)

I’m so excited to be offering these intimate postpartum newborn sessions to Jacksonville families. Different from a typical newborn session, this focuses on embracing the magic of the postpartum period. Lots of feeding baby, skin-to-skin, and cuddles. Clothes optional! This little guy, born in the water, loved baths, so we made that part of our time together, too.
